Documentaries on money and banking

These are some of the resources I've been using for my research on money and debt. They are all on You-tube so I've put in the links if you're interested to watch. Some are more heavy than others, some easier to watch.

Happy viewing.. (well, not always, but its probably worth it.)

The American Dream

So we'll start with the animations.

Money as debt, 1, &...

The ascent of money, 1-5

The secret of OZ

The money masters

The End of Poverty

"One can only guarantee your own well being if the other's well being is also guaranteed"...
This film is well made, and uses interviews from educated, well spoken interesting people . It discusses how colonialism is still continuing but in different forms. Many examples around the world of native people in developing nations and the struggles they face as nations overcoming the unfair nature of their countries relationship with the western world, and the IMF and world bank. This film is brilliant. Watch it when you have some energy, to take it all in.

Life and debt

Totally interesting and shocking documentary based in Jamaica, I just had no idea what had been happening there. Well worth watching I think.

The Economics of happiness

I could only find a trailer to this movie on line, which is a shame as its one of my favourites of all of these. The film begins in Ladakh, and goes through the changes that have happened there over the past few decades as the Western world and modern consumerism has worked its way into and over the culture that was there. Asking the question, does more money really bring a higher quality of life? The film then expands into a wide perspective, covering many other countries.
This film contains one of the best ideas I've ever heard, from Vandana Shiva, Indian activist, organic farmer, permaculturalist and basically totally amazing and inspiring woman. that is:
"Local knowledge is knowledge that tells you about life, it is about living. I called it grandmothers knowledge, and I think the biggest thing we need, the task for today is to create grandmothers universities everywhere, so that local knowledge never disappears." Yes..
Also there's a beautiful urban garden project in Detroit, totally cool. Watch it if you can.
