Principles related to zone 1
Small and slow solutions
Step by step.. In this stage I am making contacts for possible future interactions, looking into all possibilities that come into my awareness. Experimenting with designs and ideas,, developing the solid designs which will be used later. Beginning to work with natural dyes, getting to know the local materials that can be used for colours and threads. Making up prototypes of designs myself, trying them out with friends and family to see if they can be improved upon. All the while building the vision that is being created. Creating workshops in natural dying and sewing, pushing myself to accelerate learning and growth.
Use and value diversity
There are many different options available, sources of fabric and craftspeople to work with, areas to focus on, the world is so large! I will not be discounting anything, and looking into all possible options. Each area and group of people that I have come across produce their own unique styles of craft, so a diverse and unique range can be created by keeping a wide vision in mind. I very much like the idea of creating clothing that is unique to it's environment that it was grown and harvested within, so in this way the diverse environments are of huge value to this project.
Integrate rather than segregate
I will be looking for advice and support from a wide range of different people throughout this project, as there are many areas that I am tapping into that I am unfamiliar with (such as business planning, and all things financial). At every stage of the design there will be involvement from others in some way or another, and so I see the project as a whole becoming very much a collaborative venture from people yet unknown to me. This is a wonderful feeling, knowing that it's creation depends on the interactions of a very diverse group of people.
Observe and interact
I will keep checking back in on myself, and with my original vision and plans. Are things unfolding as I would like them to be? Would anything benefit from a tweak/slight shift of direction? I will also be checking back in on my Action Learning Plan, written at the beginning of this diploma, to ensure that this project is leading me in the right direction for my future hopes and ambitions.
Apply self regulation and accept feedback
Checking in with myself and others around me, are there any changes that need to take place?
