One outcome of my previous project has been the planning of a journey with my son. As I began to see the amount and depth of planning that this trip was beginning to take, I realised that running it through a project design process would really help. As permaculture design encourages such a conscious and thorough process of working, I feel that it can be applied in so many ways, not only related to land based designs. I would like to experiment further with relating it to life journeys, as all so often providing food or shelter is only a small part of many people's everyday lives. So I'd also like to use this project to develop my skills and abilities in the design process.

I began the planning for this journey well before leaving, but impatient to get away I set off before the planning was complete! Rather than see this as a negative though I am finding that living into the journey as it begins is giving me many insights into what things are challenging, and what works well for us. So I have decided to shift the focus from planning only my trip to working towards designing travels with a child in general. More on this to come. For now lets start the design process from the beginning.
